From running local groups to providing valuable advice on our helpline, volunteers help to support a vibrant adoption community. Could you help us to achieve even more in Wales by becoming a volunteer? In return, we can offer training, support and access to a wealth of experience and knowledge about adoption. What do we need? We’d love to welcome you to the team. “I find my volunteering role really rewarding. As a solo adopter it can feel quite daunting and isolating at times, so having opportunities to meet with other solo adopters is a vital part of our support networks.” Vikki, Volunteer Group Coordinator, Solo Adopters Community Group “I already attend a group with Adoption UK, and they have truly been a lifeline for me. They offer understanding, listening, empathy, and celebration, and they’ve been there for me when I needed support the most. I wanted to offer something similar for families in Cardiff, creating a safe and supportive space where people can connect, share experiences, and feel less alone. My hope is to organise a mix of informal adult meet-ups, as well as relaxed, fun gatherings in the park for children and families to come together.” Tessa, Volunteer Group Coordinator, Cardiff Community Group Very busy but still want to help? You can still help inform our work by taking part in our surveys about adoption, such as the Adoption Barometer. Our work in Wales is growing, with new opportunities for volunteers.
