Support at school: Kinship care education resources

Caring for a child in kinship care can be rewarding, but it also comes with unique challenges, especially when it comes to navigating the education system. 

That’s why we’ve created this dedicated hub: a collection of trusted, easy-to-use resources designed specifically for kinship carers and the practitioners who work with them, to help support young people at every stage of their learning journey. 

Children in kinship care often face additional barriers in education, but with the right support, they can thrive. These resources can equip carers and education professionals with the knowledge and confidence they need to help the young people they care for reach their potential. 

Kinship carers in Scotland can request a meeting with Adoption UK Scotland’s education adviser to discuss any challenges you or your child are facing. The adviser will help establish the needs of your child, consider the supports that are currently in place and identify additional support that might be available.
