Our call to action for the adoption community

Throughout the Welsh election campaign, prospective parliamentary candidates will be out campaigning in the local constituencies they wish to represent – including yours! They may knock on your door, or you may see them out and about. This is an ideal time to raise the issues that matter to you whether you are an adoptee, an adopter or a family member. Please consider asking your parliamentary candidates if they will commit to one or more of the pledges in our election manifesto for Wales.

The pledges:

  • Ring-fenced, permanent funding for therapeutic support
  • Improved lifelong support for adoptees in childhood, adolescence and adulthood
  • Mandatory training and support for education professionals to be able to meet the needs of adoptees

Research and reports

A team of researchers from Cardiff University examined the current service provision in Wales.

Report: support needs of adoptive families in Wales
