Adoption UK

is pleased to invite you to a

Parliamentary Drop-In for Members of Parliament

On the

Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund

 Monday, 19th May 2025: 14:30 – 16:30

Committee Room 6: Houses of Parliament

Kindly sponsored by Rachael Maskell MP, Chair of the APPG Adoption and Permanence

Last month the Government announced significant changes to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) for this year, including cuts to funding for individual therapy. Future funding also remains in the balance, subject to the forthcoming spending review.

The ASGSF provides vital funding for therapeutic support for adoptive and special guardianship families in England to improve the life chances of children who face some of the biggest barriers to opportunity in the country. It has transformed thousands of lives.

The adoption and special guardianship communities, charities and providers across the sector have collectively rallied in response to protest the cuts and demand government reverse its decision. Many members will have been contacted by constituents about this issue: parents and carers deeply anxious about the health and wellbeing of their children and what the future holds for their families.

Adoption UK is delighted to arrange this drop in for MPs as an opportunity to come and find out more about the Fund, the government cuts, and how these are impacting families across the country. There will be a chance to meet adoptive and special guardianship parents and carers who will talk about their experiences, alongside representatives from across the sector: Adoption UK, Kinship, Coram and Family Rights Group.

Please RSVP to [email protected] or drop in on the day. There will be a photo opportunity for members to share on social media to publicly show support.

We urge you to join if you can, this funding is crucial to the lives of some of our most vulnerable children and its future is at risk.
