This training session provides parents and caregivers with a comprehensive overview of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), a profile within the autism spectrum characterised by an anxiety-driven avoidance of everyday demands. It aims to equip families with knowledge, empathy, and practical strategies to support children with PDA, while fostering a supportive community. Session explores why change can feel overwhelming and how early experiences can affect behaviour and regulation. Some tips collated from other adopters plus practical strategies discussed to set the foundations for a positive school partnership. If you wonder why your child struggles to 'just settle' when routines change, this session will help you make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface & consider how early experiences shape stress responses and behaviour. Sharing practical, relationship-based strategies to help your child feel safer, calmer and more ready to learn. Adopting with Pride. 22nd July, 2026 7:00pm Adoption UK are delighted to be hosting an information session during Belfast Pride week, for those considering adopting. This evening session is an informal opportunity for prospective adopters to learn about the adoption process & the support available, with a panel of people sharing their experiences.
